Tourist Competition The CTC Tourist Competition (previously known as the DATC) has more than 400 events that are spread nationwide, and this site has not only the full programme of events, but during the event season (which runs from March to October) posts the latest competition standings. The events cover all aspects of riding from 50km to overnight rides of 600km. A variety of fun events are also included, as are offroad routes. Up to twelve events can count towards your score, preferably with at least one from each of the six different categories (a - f in the Event Guide), and plus other six. You can select from the whole programme of Tourist Competition events.
There are trophies for the first man, woman, veteran, junior (U-18 on March 1 of the relevant year) girl and boy. A certificate and badge is awarded to anyone who completes ten rides.
Mille Miglia As part of the Tourist Competition you can also purchase engraved medals for completing total distances of 3000 km (Gold), 2000 km (Silver), or 1000 km (Bronze).
British Cycle Quest (BCQ) If you like your cycling to have a purpose, enjoy devising your own routes and visiting obscure places, then the BCQ could be for you.
Launched in 2000 BCQ involves tracking down answers to 402 questions. It's easier than it sounds, however, because you're given the map reference for each place you visit and the questions are simple - they exist to prove only that you were there. There are six sites to visit in each of the 67 counties or islands, and you can obtain County Cards and a Wall Chart to record your progress. Awards are available for visiting, 50, 100, 200, 300 and all 402 sites.
BAR The BAR ran for 40 years as a Best Allrounder competition for CTC members interested in time trialling. It has now been discontinued due to falling entries.
